Finding important dimensions of change

Hoping for a little help on what feels like it should be a simple question.  What is the name or class of solution to the following common problem?

Say an organization's total revenue drops from 100 to 80 month over month.  The very next question is 'what happened'.  Revenue can be described by N dimensions, some dependent, some independent, like Business unit to department to store, or product line, product class, customer segments, etc.  The answer to 'What happened' could be any one or a combination of these dimensions.

Are there algorithms programmed for purchase or on Github etc that automate the search for the important dimensions or group of dimensions that explain the original revenue change?  I am sure that are multiple methodological approaches depending but what is this class of problem?  Appreciate any help.
